That's Us!

Jeremy and I met about 10 years ago on the internet and got married on October 2, 2004. In February 2006 Jeremy got a Kidney Transplant at the Mayo Clinic. Almost a year to the date of his transplant we were blessed with the birth of our son Benjamin Dale Smith; who I might add is the most awesome kid I know! Jeremy and I are planning on celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary this October and I'm excited.

Jeremy is Probation Officer for Farmington Municipal Courts. He supervises those between the ages of 18-21 that have been charged with substance abuse. He is a great father and husband.

Joy is a full time wife and mother and is going to school part time to complete her degree in nursing or surgical technology. She can't decide right now. Maybe before she is 40 she will decide.

We are hoping within the next couple of years to move to Arizona and be closer to the Mayo Clinic for Jeremy's benefit and also so Joy can continue her career.

Auto-Pilot

So I have been home for almost a week and it has been rough trying not to run on auto-pilot. This surgery for me was like no other. It took about 3 hours total. All the ligaments and tendons except for 1 were in good condition. There was one that was damaged but not enough for repair. The doctor made a trench in the head of the hip bone allowing smoother movement and also cut into the femur bone allowing smoother movement. He also took out the swollen bursa and then cut a window into the I-T band (the large ligament that runs from your pelvis to your knee) over the bursa so they will not rub up against each other hoping the swelling won't reoccur again. Finally he did some repair from the previous surgery. There were stitches left in the muscle/IT band that caused a large knot on the side of my leg. He removed that and the scare tissue. All of the surgery was recorded for training since the problem I had with my hip was such a unique problem.

I have not been able to bare more than 20 lbs on my right leg which has been hard for me since I'm not use to sitting and doing nothing. Jeremy has been so AWESOME though in taking care of me. He has been doing all the cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc. I have pushed myself too far the past couple of days and ended up confining myself to the bed since I hurt myself twice.

Thanks for all the support and prayers. I will find out tomorrow more about the recovery and how much longer I have to stay off of it. Hope everyone has a great and happy holiday season!!!

2009 Rotary Air Show

Here are a few pictures from the 2009 Air Show. Ben wanted to take the Air Force A-10 home with him, and I'm not talking about the model, he wanted the real thing. The kid is bound to fly...

Family Photos

Last week we went to have family photos done. Someone (Benjamin) wasn't very cooperative. So we will be getting them done again. So here are the pictures that we do have and we will have more again soon...
